Chronic Central Adrenal Insufficiency in a Patient With Remote Traumatic Brain Injury and an Apparently Adequate Standard-Dose ACTH Response: A Case Report.

In patients with a remote history of traumatic brain injury, central adrenal insufficiency may remain unrecognized for decades. An apparently adequate response to standard-dose ACTH stimulation should not preclude further evaluation of the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis when clinical and biochemical findings continue to suggest adrenal insufficiency.
