Abstract / Summary
Introduction: Gastritis is a globally prevalent condition with a multifactorial etiology, including Helicobacter pylori infection, use of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, and dietary factors. Although pharmacological therapy, primarily bacterial eradication and proton pump inhibitors is essential, there is growing interest in the role of nutritional guidance as an adjunct in clinical management. In this context, educational materials can support healthcare professionals in evidence-based practice. Materials and Methods: It is a qualitative development study grounded in didactic-pedagogical principles. A literature review was conducted using the descriptors “gastritis,” “food and nutrition education” and “nutrition” to identify consistent evidence on dietary factors associated with gastritis and the use of phytotherapeutics as adjuncts. The booklet was created using the Canva® platform and structured into four stages: article selection, information synthesis, listing of related foods, and discussion of the importance of diet in treatment. The material was organized with accessible language, aiming to promote nutritional education. Results: A scientific booklet was developed on the Canva platform, targeted at nutritionists and healthcare professionals. The material covers definitions of gastritis, main signs and symptoms, foods and substances to avoid, benefits of phytotherapeutics, and general recommendations for a healthy diet. Conclusion: The booklet serves as a practical and accessible tool, based on recent evidence, reinforcing the role of nutrition as an adjunct in gastritis therapy. While it does not replace pharmacological treatment, individualized dietary guidance can contribute to symptom improvement, treatment adherence, and promotion of digestive health.
