Abstract
Synchronous primary malignancies of the colon are uncommon, and the coexistence of adenocarcinoma with a neuroendocrine tumor at different colonic sites is exceptionally rare. We report a case of a 46-year-old male who presented with melena and abdominal pain. Radiological and endoscopic evaluation revealed two distinct lesions involving the caecum and hepatic flexure of the colon. Histopathological examination demonstrated a well-differentiated adenocarcinoma of the caecum and a well-differentiated neuroendocrine tumor of the colon. Identification of such synchronous malignancies is essential, as they have important diagnostic, therapeutic, and prognostic implications. This case highlights the importance of meticulous pathological evaluation of colorectal specimens to detect coexisting but histologically distinct tumors.
