By Abhishek Kumar Sinha, Dr. Anjali Sinha and Md Raghib Tauheed.
Abstract
Background
Retinopathy of prematurity (ROP) remains a leading cause of preventable childhood blindness in low- and middle-income countries, with aggressive posterior ROP (AP-ROP) and plus disease representing its most sight-threatening forms.
Methods
A hospital-based prospective observational study was conducted in the Department of Ophthalmology and Department of Neonatology at a tertiary care institute from April 2021 to June 2022. All neonates with a gestational age ≤37 weeks and/or birth weight ≤2500 g admitted to the NICU/SNCU were screened using binocular indirect ophthalmoscopy. Chi-square, Fisher's exact test and logistic regression were used for analysis.
