Hernia de Littré en contexto de hernia crural complicada. A propósito de un caso
By René Díaz Quiñones and Aniel Valle Rivera.
Abstract
Introduction
Meckel's diverticulum is the embryological remnant of the omphalomesenteric duct and arises from its incomplete obliteration during the fifth week of gestation. Littre's hernia is a rare clinical entity characterized by the presence of a Meckel's diverticulum within a hernial sac.
Objective
To expose a case of Littre's hernia in the context of a complicated right femoral hernia.
Case presentation
An 80-year-old male patient was admitted with suspected inguinal hernia and intestinal involvement. The diagnosis of Littre's hernia was made intraoperatively, upon finding a Meckel's diverticulum incarcerated in the femoral ring. Femoral herniorrhaphy was performed using the Cheatle-Henry technique, along with wedge resection and anastomosis of the small intestine, with a good postoperative course.
Conclusions
This case highlights the importance of considering Littre's hernia as a differential diagnosis in patients with complicated femoral hernias, especially when the clinical presentation is atypical.
