Abstract
Introduction
Uro-andrological emergencies represent a growing proportion of emergency surgical activity in sub- Saharan African countries. Their incidence, prognostic factors and temporal trends remain poorly documented in this setting. The aim of this study was to analyse the temporal evolution of uro-andrological emergencies over five years, to identify independent predictive factors of major complications, and to develop a risk stratification score adapted to resource-limited centres. Patients and methods: A retrospective cohort study was conducted at the Zou-Collines Departmental Hospital Centre (CHD-ZC) in Abomey, Benin, from January 1, 2020, to December 31, 2024. All patients admitted for a genuine uro andrological emergency were included. Temporal trends were analysed using Poisson regression and repeated measures ANOVA. Independent predictive factors of major complications (Clavien-Dindo grade ≥ III) were identified by multivariate logistic regression. The ZOUCOL score (Zou Collines Urological Complications score) was developed from the identified independent predictors, weighted by their β coefficients, and validated using the area under the ROC curve and the Hosmer-Lemeshow test.
