Abstract
Background
Beta-thalassemia trait (BTT) is an important cause of microcytic hypochromic anemia and frequently presents with hematological features overlapping those of iron deficiency anemia (IDA).
Objectives
To evaluate and compare the diagnostic performance of the Mentzer index and five other CBC-derived indices in screening for BTT.
