Abstract
Background
Despite progress in reducing maternal and under-five mortality, Nepal continues to face disproportionately high neonatal mortality, accounting for over 60% of under-five deaths1. Postpartum hemorrhage remains the leading cause of maternal mortality2. Mothers’ groups are nationally recognized community-based platforms facilitated by community health workers that connect government health services with local communities through health education, preventive care, and maternal-child health engagement3. The Nuwakot District, a rural mountainous region in north-central Nepal, faces geographic and sociocultural barriers that influence healthcare access and trust. Understanding maternal experiences is essential to improving maternal and neonatal outcomes.
