Phenotypes of cardiovascular remodeling in patients with acute leukemias
By Zokirova M. B. and Kayumov A. A..
Abstract
Cardiovascular complications in patients with acute leukemias develop as a result of the combined effect of the underlying disease, systemic inflammation, anemia, metabolic disturbances, and antitumor therapy. Modern cardio-oncology considers cardiovascular toxicity as a broad spectrum of structural, functional, electrophysiological, and biochemical disorders, rather than merely a reduction in left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) [1–3].To determine the main phenotypes of structural and functional myocardial remodeling in patients with acute leukemias and to assess their relationship with cardiospecific biomarkers and polymorphisms of genes involved in antioxidant defense, endothelial function, extracellular matrix, and neurohumoral regulation.
