Abstract
“One Health” is a collaborative effort involving multiple health science professions, together with their related disciplines and institutions, to work in an integrated manner at all levels. Within this framework, Pharmacology opens up new possibilities and challenges. An educational research study based on grounded theory was conducted jointly by the Faculty of Medical Sciences of Bayamo at the University of Medical Sciences of Granma and the Veterinary Medicine program of the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences at the University of Granma, between September 2024 and January 2025. The design of the teaching strategy was based on the epistemological foundations of General Systems Theory, as well as on the use of theoretical, empirical, and mathematical methods. A socialization workshop with specialists was conducted to assess the currency, relevance, and feasibility of the designed strategy. The teaching strategy was conceived as a system composed of subsystems (stages), principles, and components (objectives and actions). A teaching strategy was designed which, according to the specialists’ assessment, is current, relevant, and feasible for implementing the “One Health” approach through Pharmacology, as well as for systematizing interprofessional relationships among pharmacologists involved in teaching Medicine and Veterinary Medicine programs.
