Abstract
Maternal anxiety in facing childbirth can have negative impacts such as increasing the risk of prolonged labor, excessive pain, and even obstetric complications. This study aims to determine the effect of deep breathing techniques on maternal anxiety in facing childbirth at Kuala Kampar Health Center in 2025. This research is a cross-sectional study. The sample consisted of 34 third-trimester pregnant women. The data obtained were analyzed using univariate and bivariate analyses with the t-test, and the results were presented systematically. The findings showed that among 34 respondents, before the education was provided, all 34 women (100.0%) experienced severe anxiety. After being given education on the Deep Breathing Technique to reduce maternal anxiety in facing childbirth, it was found that 28 women (82.4%) experienced mild anxiety, 5 women (14.7%) experienced moderate anxiety, and 1 woman (2.9%) still experienced severe anxiety. The t-test results showed a p-value = 0.000 (p < 0.05), which means there is a significant effect of education on Deep Breathing Technique on reducing maternal anxiety in the third trimester in facing childbirth. It is recommended that healthcare providers routinely provide information not only focused on medical aspects but also covering Deep Breathing techniques, relaxation training, stress management, and mental preparation for childbirth.
