Abstract
Fibroadenoma Mammae is a common benign tumor found in women. It is a firm, elastic, painless, easily movable lump with well-defined borders. This condition is often caused by age, family history, and the use of hormonal contraceptives. The hormones involved are estrogen and progesterone. Fibroadenoma mammae typically occurs in young women, around the age of 20, and can be detected as early as possible through breast self-examination (BSE). This study aims to determine the characteristics of fibroadenoma mammae patients based on age, family history, and history of hormonal contraceptive use at Meuraxa Regional General Hospital, Banda Aceh City. This study used a retrospective descriptive method based on secondary data in the form of medical records of fibroadenoma mammary patients at Meuraxa Regional General Hospital, Banda Aceh City. The sampling technique used was total sampling, resulting in 46 fibroadenoma mammary patients who met the inclusion criteria. In this study, a sample of 46 patients was obtained. Based on age, the most common was found in young women ≥ 20 years old, amounting to 35 people (76.1%), based on family history, there were 40 people (87.0%) who did not have a family history of tumors. Based on the history of hormonal contraceptive use, there were 30 patients (65.2%) who did not have a history of such. The main findings of this study indicate a predominance of respondents in the age group ≥ 20 years (76.1%), no family history (87.0%), and not using hormonal contraception (65.2%). These results can be used to increase public knowledge and health promotion regarding risk factors, signs and symptoms, and the importance of early detection of fibroadenoma mammary to the community.
