Abstract
Introduction
laparoscopic cholecystectomy is the procedure of choice for gallbladder pathology; iatrogenic bile duct injury represents a serious complication resulting from erroneous anatomical identification. Indocyanine green fluorescence cholangiography has emerged as a non-invasive alternative, though its implementation in Venezuela still lacks standardized protocols. Objective evaluate the utility and safety of this technique in ten patients in Mérida, Venezuela. Method. A prospective, descriptive, observational study of ten adult patients (aged 39 to 79) who underwent indocyanine green-assisted laparoscopic cholecystectomy, using intravenous doses of 5 mg or 15 mg, at the Sigma Medical Center between May 2025 and February 2026. Image quality was assessed using an ad hoc numerical scale (1 to 5), and postoperative follow-up was documented. Results. Image quality was rated as excellent (5/5) in seven cases, optimal (4/5) in one, and good (3/5) in two. There were no reported conversions to open surgery or adverse reactions to the dye. Hospital stay was 24 hours in all cases.
