Abstract
Comprehensive care for women's health must be guaranteed in all cycles of life and to all women regardless of their sexual orientation and gender identity. however, cisgender lesbian women still face significant barriers to access to health services, due to prejudices and discrimination based on their sexual orientation, which compromises the comprehensiveness of care. therefore, the objective was to understand the experiences of lesbian cisgender women during the gynecological consultation. this is a descriptive-exploratory study, with a qualitative approach, carried out with eleven lesbian cisgender women who at some point in their lives have already sought the health service for a gynecological consultation. the number of women was determined by theoretical saturation and sampling by "snowball". data collection took place through semi-structured interviews, recorded and conducted with script. as for the content analysis, three categories were identified: "first experience of lesbian women in the gynecological consultation", "experiences in gynecological consultations subsequent to the first experience", "fears and barriers to conducting the gynecological consultation from the perspective of lesbian women". the reports have shown that, although there are positive experiences, the fear of prejudice, the lack of training of professionals, the invisibility of sexual practices among women and the reproduction of heteronormative assumptions remain important obstacles in the access and permanence of these women in health services. in addition, for many lesbian women, the moment of the gynecological consultation becomes a place of fear, discomfort and vulnerability.
