By Jun Niizuma and Takao Kanasugi.
Abstract
Ozegahara, the largest wetland in Honshu, Japan, is a protected area within Oze National Park where the mosquito fauna has been poorly documented. We conducted mosquito larval surveys on 22 and 23 July 2025 and collected 27 larvae and one pupa. The specimens were identified as Culex sasai, Culex orientalis, and Aedes japonicus. In addition, one adult male of Aedes esoensis was collected using a UV-light trap. This is the first record of Culex sasai from the Ozegahara wetland.
