Abstract / Summary
This study evaluated retirement adjustment in UK retired police officers (N = 289) across two analytical models. The moderation model revealed a non-significant overall interaction, though exploratory Johnson-Neyman analysis identified an emergent region at 32.07 years post-retirement, where perceived organisational support significantly predicted adjustment. This suggests a long-term organisational legacy effect, wherein retrospective perceptions of service value serve as a durable psychological resource in later life. Conversely, the mediation model confirmed psychological resilience as a significant statistical mediator directly linking support to adjustment. The findings support lifelong post-service wellbeing strategies, as organisational relationships influence adjustment decades after retirement.
