Bloomy rind sign: an infrequent finding with possible association to EGFR mutation
By Diego Páez-Granda and Hernán Lupera.
Abstract
A 37-year-old woman with a history of EGFR-mutated pulmonary adenocarcinoma presented with progressive neurological deterioration characterised by bradykinesia, bradylalia, gait imbalance, and impaired coordination and concentration. The patient had initially received six cycles of systemic chemotherapy with carboplatin, pemetrexed, and pembrolizumab, followed by radiotherapy to the left hip for lytic metastatic lesions.Due to disease progression, systemic treatment was subsequently modified to nivolumab and ipilimumab.Brain magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) studies performed during hospitalisation demonstrated multiple enhancing microhaemorrhagic lesions, as well as small ischaemic foci involving the pons and medulla.1
