Abstract / Summary
The poster, presented at the 4th National Public Health Conference in Slovenia, summarises a scoping review of strategies and methods for optimising the placement of publicly accessible defibrillators (PADs). The review includes 43 original research articles and theses identified in PubMed and Scopus, covering the period 2010–2025. It examines the role of historical out-of-hospital cardiac arrest locations, spatial and temporal PAD accessibility, population characteristics, and emergency medical service and first responder response times in planning PAD networks. The poster highlights data-driven relocation of existing devices, targeted placement of additional PADs, and round-the-clock accessibility. It also emphasises the need for external validation of optimisation models, cost-effectiveness assessment, and prospective evaluation of the impact of optimised PAD networks on PAD use, survival, and neurological outcomes.
