Abstract
Diseases caused by viruses of the numerous Herpesviridae family occupy a significant place in human pathology. Herpetic infection (HI)1 with damage to the epithelium of the oral cavity and lips is mainly associated with representatives of the apodefamily: most often with herpes simplex virus type I (HSV I), less often with herpes simplex virus type II (HSV II) and varicella zoster virus (HSV III). Chronic recurrent herpetic stomatitis of the oral mucosa occupies a significant place in the group of diseases of the mucous membrane among pregnant women and women in the postpartum period. The diagnosis of diseases with a viral etiological factor is complex, time-consuming, and requires a comprehensive interdisciplinary approach and the use of various clinical and laboratory methods. Treatment of viral pathology of the oral mucosa in pregnant women and women in the postpartum period is a difficult task in the practice of a dentist.
