Abstract / Summary
This article reinterprets the DSM-5-TR specific learning disorder profile through the SMART-NB methodology, proposing a multidimensional functional assessment beyond diagnostic classification. It examines reading, written expression, and mathematics together with language, attention, working memory, executive functioning, processing speed, motor demands, sensory access, anxiety, school context, learning rate, automatization, retention, retrieval, and generalization. The objective is to distinguish academic difficulty from the functional mechanisms that shape learning performance and to provide a longitudinal framework for individualized clinical priorities, educational supports, and intervention goals.
