Abstract
Objective
In this study, nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy was used in prostate tissue to gather novel data on biomarkers that could predict biochemical recurrence in prostate cancer.
Methods
Prostate tissue cores were collected from individuals who presented to our institution for transrectal biopsy. After acquiring all the spectra using a Bruker Avance III DRX 600 spectrometer, tissue specimens were subjected to routine histology to confirm the presence or absence of prostate cancer. Univariate and multivariate analyses with metabolic and clinical variables were performed to predict biochemical recurrence in men treated for prostate cancer.
