Abstract
Manned space missions are transitioning from brief operations in low Earth orbit to a concept of enduring and permanent colonies targeting deep space goals [1].Consistent with existing objectives, a significant challenge that will adversely affect astronaut health is the space radiation environment.Upon traversing outside the Earth's protective magnetosphere, one may encounter exposure to low-dose yet continuous galactic cosmic radiation (GCR) and sporadic solar particle events [2].The high-Z and high-energy (HZE) particles in the GCR component cannot be entirely mitigated by physical shielding measures (aluminum, polyethylene, water) and can exacerbate the biological burden within the shield by producing secondary radiation [3].This circumstance necessitates the biological development of protective measures. The physiology of the female reproductive system is crucial when assessing radiation-related biological concerns. The male germ line preserves its regenerative capacity
