Abstract / Summary
ABSTRACT Central diabetes insipidus (CDI) is an uncommon condition characterized by deficient vasopressin secretion, resulting in polyuria, polydipsia, and the potential for dehydration and electrolyte disturbances. Desmopressin, a synthetic form of vasopressin, remains the cornerstone of treatment. Desmoda, an oral liquid formulation of desmopressin approved by the United States Food and Drug Administration, provides a novel, ready-to-use option appropriate for all age demographics, especially infants and individuals with dysphagia. It facilitates accurate, weight-based dosing without requiring tablet handling or refrigeration. Desmoda signifies significant progress in CDI care; however, caution is warranted regarding hyponatremia and its use in patients with renal impairment.
