Management and Visual Outcome in Patients of Lens-Induced Glaucoma at a Tertiary Care Hospital
By Tribhuvan Kinjal Diwakar and Snehal Bonde Chaurasia.
Abstract
A BSTRACT Background: Lens-induced glaucoma (LIG), a sight threatening secondary glaucoma disease, prevalent in India, requires early management for restoring vision and preventing blindness. Despite its clinical significance, limited data exists regarding visual outcomes following current management approaches in phacomorphic and phacolytic LIG. Thus, we compared visual outcomes and intraocular pressure (IOP) control following surgical management in these two LIG subgroups. Materials and Methods: This prospective observational study was conducted over a period of 18 months (November 2023 to May 2025) at the Department of Ophthalmology at a tertiary care center. A total of 100 patients of LIG were included and demographic data, clinical presentation, management and outcomes, including best-corrected visual acuity (BCVA), IOP and complications at the end of 6 weeks, were recorded and analyzed.
