Abstract / Summary
Continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) enables a comprehensive assessment of hypoglycemia, including its duration, timing, frequency, and recurrence. Clinical studies have shown that CGM can reduce hypoglycemia when detected patterns are translated into appropriate treatment decisions. Automated insulin delivery (AID) systems can further reduce both hyperglycemia and hypoglycemia by automatically adjusting insulin delivery according to sensor glucose levels. Nevertheless, the use of CGM or AID alone does not completely eliminate hypoglycemia. Effective prevention requires systematic data review, individualized adjustment of medications and insulin therapy, appropriate use of alarms and system settings, exercise planning, and structured education.
