Abstract
Introduction
Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is a common endocrine disorder associated with anovulation, infertility, metabolic dysfunction, and increased psychological distress. Fibroblast growth factor 21 (FGF21) and Klotho are key regulators of metabolic homeostasis and have been implicated in stress-related endocrine pathways, including hypothalamic–pituitary–adrenal (HPA) axis activity. However, evidence regarding their role in PCOS remains limited, particularly in Bulgarian population.
