The Relation of Vernier Acuity to Variations in Intensity and Wavelength
By Yaw Buabeng and Billy R. Hammond.
Abstract
Clinical relevance: Vernier acuity (VA) is a common clinical metric used to evaluate cortical visual processing and macular health that is relatively independent of typical optical limitations (such as blurring).
Background
Past studies have shown that vernier thresholds do not tend to vary according to blur, intensity and spectral content. This last variable, however, is the most inconsistent and has never been measured using relatively narrowband wavelengths.
