Abstract
Anemia during pregnancy remains a common health problem and may increase the risk of complications for both the mother and the fetus. Maternal age, parity, and the frequency of antenatal care (ANC) visits are factors that are presumed to be associated with the incidence of anemia among pregnant women. This study aimed to determine the association between maternal age, parity, and the frequency of ANC visits and the incidence of anemia among pregnant women at the Baitussalam Primary Health Center, Aceh Besar Regency, during 2023–2025. This analytical observational study employed a cross-sectional design using secondary data obtained from the medical records of 829 pregnant women. Data were analyzed using univariate and bivariate analysis with the Chi-square test at a significance level of p-value < 0.05. The univariate analysis showed that 246 pregnant women (29.7%) had anemia, while 583 (70.3%) did not. Most pregnant women were in the non-risk maternal age group (70.2%), had parity ≥2 (62.5%), and attended ≥6 ANC visits (56.0%). The bivariate analysis showed no significant association between maternal age and the incidence of anemia (p = 0.122). In contrast, parity (p < 0.001) and the frequency of ANC visits (p < 0.001) were significantly associated with the incidence of anemia. In conclusion, maternal age was not associated with the incidence of anemia among pregnant women, whereas parity and the frequency of ANC visits were significantly associated with the incidence of anemia at Maternal and Child Health Clinic of Baitussalam Primary Health Center, Aceh Besar Regency, during 2023–2025.
