Abstract
Menstrual pain is commonly experienced by adolescent girls and may affect various aspects of daily life, including learning activities. Menstrual pain can reduce concentration, decrease focus, and interfere with students’ participation in the learning process. This study aimed to determine the relationship between the degree of primary menstrual pain and learning activities among female students in grades VII and VIII at SMP Negeri 6 Banda Aceh. This study employed an analytic observasional design with a cross-sectional approach. The sample consisted of 47 respondents selected using the total sampling technique. Data were collected using the Numeric rating Scale (NRS) questionnaire to measure the degree of menstrual pain and a learning activity questionnaire. Data were analysed using univariate and bivariate analyses with the Chi-square. The results showed that the majority of respondents experienced menstrual pain in the mild category, consisting of (25 respondents; 53.2%) while (22 respondents; 46.8%) experienced severe pain. Learning activities were mostly in the not disturbed category, consisting of (30 respondents; 63.8%). The result Chi-square test showed a p-value of <0,001 ( P < 0.05 ) indicating a significant relationship between the degree of primary dysmenorrhea pain and learning activities. The higher the degree of menstrual pain experienced by the students, the greater the disruption to their learning activities. In conclusion, there is a significant relationship between the degree of menstrual pain and learning activities among female students of grades VII and VIII at SMP Negeri 6 Banda Aceh.
