Abstract
With the aim of evaluating the correlation between family support and overall quality of life and its dimensions, a quantitative, non-experimental, correlational, and cross-sectional study was conducted among 60 persons with disabilities registered with the Municipal Office for the Attention of Persons with Disabilities (OMAPED, by its Spanish acronym) in Barranca, selected through non-probability convenience sampling. Quality of life was assessed using the FUMAT Scale, and family support was assessed using the Family Support Level Questionnaire. Spearman’s rho was used, and p-values were adjusted using the Holm method. Family support was positively correlated with the total FUMAT score (rho=0.393; 95% CI: 0.154–0.588; p=0.016) and with physical well-being (rho=0.395; 95% CI: 0.157–0.590; p=0.016). The other dimensions did not remain statistically significant after adjustment. Family support was associated with overall quality of life and physical well-being; however, these findings do not allow causality to be established.
