Kekurangan energi kronis sebagai determinan anemia pada kehamilan di sukabumi
By Indah Aulia Rahma and Lily Surjadi.
Abstract
Anemia in pregnancy remains an important maternal nutrition problem, while the contribution of chronic energy deficiency to anemia is still uncertain. This study examined the relationship between chronic energy deficiency and anemia among pregnant women in Sukabumi, Indonesia. An observational analytic cross-sectional study used secondary medical-record data from 117 pregnant women receiving antenatal care at Kebonpedes Primary Health Center. Chronic energy deficiency was determined from upper-arm circumference records, whereas anemia was determined from hemoglobin measurements. Most participants were aged 20–35 years (85.47%), were in the first trimester (68.37%), and were multiparous (68.38%). Chronic energy deficiency was identified in 25 women (21.37%), and anemia in 26 women (22.22%). Anemia occurred in 24% of women with chronic energy deficiency and 22% of those without chronic energy deficiency. Chi-square analysis showed no statistically significant association between the two conditions (p = 0.809). Descriptively, anemia was more frequent among women aged >35 years (33.3%) and primiparous women (35.1%). These findings indicate that chronic energy deficiency alone does not explain maternal anemia and support broader assessment of micronutrient status, dietary quality, supplementation adherence, reproductive characteristics, and other clinical factors during pregnancy.
