Abstract
Akathisia is a neuropsychiatric motor disorder that is often linked to the start of psychotropic medications, particularly antipsychotics.Timely recognition and appropriate management are critical, as this condition generates considerable patient distress and may significantly compromise treatment outcomes. This review summarizes the most recent research on pharmacological treatments for akathisia, a symptom that has significant clinical significance in both neurology and psychiatry, and provides evidence-based suggestions for modern practice.
