Abstract / Summary
Abstract Objective This study aimed to systematically evaluate the clinical efficacy and safety of the modified endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) in the treatment of gastric stromal tumors. Methods A retrospective study was conducted on the clinical data of 80 patients with small gastric stromal tumors admitted to the Department of Gastroenterology of Anqing First People's Hospital from July 2020 to October 2024. The patients were divided into a control group and an observation group. Forty patients in the control group were treated with traditional ESD, while 40 patients in the observation group were treated with ESD assisted by a ligator with dental floss. The general information of the two groups (including age, gender, tumor origin site, and tumor size), the complete tumor resection rate (R0 resection rate), operation time, length of hospital stay, hospitalization expenses, incidence of complications, and recurrence rate were analyzed. Results There were no significant differences in age, gender, tumor location, tumor size, etc. between the two groups (P > 0.05). All patients in both groups completed ESD resection, and the complete resection rate was 100%. The operation time in the control group was (111.43 ± 57.03) min, while that in the observation group was (49.35 ± 23.38) min. The operation time in the observation group was significantly shorter than that in the control group, and the difference was statistically significant (P < 0.05). The hospitalization expenses in the control group were (21984.21 ± 5557.63) yuan, while those in the observation group were (19505.74 ± 4702.22) yuan. The hospitalization expenses in the observation group were significantly less than those in the control group, and the difference was statistically significant (P < 0.05). There were 4 cases of complications in the control group, while there were no complications in the observation group, and the difference was statistically significant (P < 0.05). No tumor recurrence was found in either group during the follow - up at 6 months, 12 months, and 24 months. Conclusion The modified ESD is effective and safe in the treatment of gastric stromal tumors and can completely resect the lesions. This study not only focuses on the short - term effects of technical improvement but also provides a standardized reference for the minimally invasive treatment of gastric stromal tumors through multi - dimensional evaluation of efficacy and safety, promoting the precise application of minimally invasive techniques.
