Abstract / Summary
This project contains the protocol, search strategies, screening records, data-charting forms, and evidence tables for a scoping review examining interventional evidence on vitamin D supplementation and intestinal barrier function in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus. The review will map studies evaluating vitamin D2, vitamin D3, or calcifediol and direct intestinal-barrier outcomes, including validated permeability tests, lipopolysaccharide-related markers, intestinal fatty acid-binding protein, fecal calprotectin, soluble CD14, and tight-junction proteins. Zonulin will be extracted and interpreted separately because of its analytical limitations. The review follows Joanna Briggs Institute methodology and PRISMA-ScR reporting guidance. It aims to identify the extent and characteristics of available evidence, clarify evidence gaps, and inform future clinical research.
