Abstract
Background: Despite transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI) reducing cardiovascular events in elderly patients with aortic stenosis (AS), the mortality rate is still high. Growth differentiation factor (GDF) 15 is reportedly a useful prognostic marker for clinical outcomes in the field of cardiovascular diseases, but it is still unclear if elevated serum GDF15 levels predict poor prognosis in patients with severe AS who undergo TAVI.
