Abstract / Summary
To evaluate the short-term clinical outcomes and axis deviation of three different toric intraocular lenses (TIOLs) used in cataract patients combined with regular corneal astigmatism. This retrospective study involved 75 eyes from 61 patients with regular corneal astigmatism who underwent cataract surgery from January 2021 to May 2025 in Tianjin Medical University Eye Hospital. Patients were allocated to three groups: one received the SN6ATx TIOL(Alcon)with 25 eyes, another the TS TIOL (VisionPro) with 25 eyes, and the other the ATBH TIOL (Proming) with 25 eyes. Postoperative evaluations included the uncorrected distance visual acuity (UCDVA), the best corrected distance visual acuity (BCDVA), residual astigmatism and TIOL axis deviation under slit lamp at 1 month. One month after surgery, UCDVA and BCDVA were significantly improved in three groups compared with those before surgery (P < 0.05). No significant difference in UCDVA or BCDVA postoperatively was observed among the three groups (P > 0.05). The postoperative residual astigmatism were [-0.75 (-1.00, -0.50)] D of SN6ATx group, [-0.50 (-0.75, 0.00)] D of TS group and (-0.55 ± 0.47) D of ATBH group, respectively. No significant difference was found among the three groups (P > 0.05). The TIOL axis deviation were within 10° among the three groups, with [3 (2, 6) ]° in the SN6ATx group, [1 (0.5, 5) ]° in TS group and [4 (1.5, 7.5) ]° in the ATBH group, respectively. A significant difference in axis deviation was observed among the three groups (F = 3.195, P = 0.047). While post-hoc pairwise comparisons with Bonferroni correction revealed no statistically significant differences between any specific pair of groups. In the SN6ATx group, 76% of the eyes were within 5°, and 24% were between 6° and 10°. In the TS group, 84% of the eyes were within 5°, and 16% were between 6° and 10°. In the ATBH group, 68% of the eyes were within 5°, and 32% were between 6° and 10°. No significant difference was observed in the ratio among the three groups (P > 0.05). In correcting cataracts with regular corneal astigmatism 1 month after surgery, the three TIOLs showed comparable axis deviation and residual astigmatism, with all achieving significant and comparable visual improvement and short-term astigmatic correction.
