Abstract
Effective assessment of menstrual quality of life could facilitate appropriate solutions to menstrual disruption. We demonstrated the convergent validity of the PERIOD-QOL against the Menstrual Bleeding Questionnaire, concurrent validity against the Short Form 36-Item Health Survey and Warwick-Edinburgh Mental Well-being Scale and confirmed its unidimensional structure (N = 201). PERIOD–quality of life (QOL) scores of women with or without heavy periods, or self-reported gynaecological diagnoses, demonstrated known-groups validity. All participants were cis women and >80% were White, so findings are limited by a lack of diversity. Future research should evaluate the PERIOD-QOL in diverse samples, and whether it discriminates between people with/out verified diagnoses.
