Abstract / Summary
A novel N,N′-propyl-linked bis-(isatin salicylhydrazide hydrazone) (bis-ISHH) ligand and its corresponding Mn(II), Co(II), Ni(II), and Cu(II) complexes were synthesized and characterized using elemental analysis, FT-IR,1H and 13C NMR, HRMS, UV–Vis, TGA, EPR, CV, and magnetic susceptibility measurements. The combined spectroscopic and analytical data confirmed the formation of stable octahedral metal complexes. The magnetic susceptibility results, together with DFT calculations, further supported the presence of high-spin octahedral coordination around the metal ions. The in vitro anti-inflammatory activity of synthesized complexes was investigated using the bovine serum albumin (BSA) denaturation assay at concentrations ranging from 0.02 to 0.10 mg/mL. The Cu(II) complex demonstrated the highest inhibitory activity, increasing from 18.42% at 0.02 mg/mL to 98.42% at 0.10 mg/mL. Furthermore, molecular docking studies against the ErbB-2 and MurB protein targets demonstrated favorable binding interactions for the synthesized metal complexes, further highlighting their promising biological potential.
