Abstract / Summary
The datasheet for a study tha tevaluated the use of handheld 3D scanning as an alternative to manual bridge-gauge measurement for quantifying backface deformation in soft body armor testing. Using an anatomically accurate Roma Plastilina No. 1 clay mannequin to simulate realistic armor wear, ballistic tests were conducted using 9mm Luger FMJ RN rounds at three shot locations: the xiphoid process, inframammary region, and superior medial chest. Backface deformation was measured manually with a bridge gauge and digitally using the Artec Eva 3D Scanner and Geomagic Control X software.
