Abstract
Longitudinal studies on trajectories of cognitive disengagement syndrome (CDS) from adolescence to adulthood are scarce. 231 young adults (mean age = 22.93; 56.1% females) participated in this cross-sectional study with retrospectively recalled adolescent CDS. Participants completed ratings on CDS, depression, and insomnia. For retrospective recall of adolescent status, participants undertook a standardized CBT-based imagination intervention. CDS scores increased from mid-adolescence to early adulthood. Adolescent CDS and depression, and adult insomnia and depression were independently associated with adult CDS. CDS trajectories remain statistically fairly stable from retrospectively recalled adolescence to adulthood, and underscore the importance of longitudinal and studies on CDS.
