Aligning Time Zero When Evaluating SGLT2 Inhibitors After TAVR
By Muiz Khan Tareen and Sidrat ul Muntaha Lone.
Abstract
We read with interest the study by Hanif et al evaluating sodium-glucose cotransporter-2 inhibitor (SGLT2i) use after transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) in patients with diabetes.1 In a large multinational electronic health record cohort, SGLT2i exposure was associated with lower risks of major adverse cardiovascular events, cardiovascular mortality, heart failure (HF) exacerbation, stroke, and renal events. These findings are clinically relevant and complement emerging randomized evidence supporting SGLT2 inhibition after TAVR.
