Predictive value of echocardiography combined with hemoglobin level for left ventricular outflow tract obstruction in hypertrophic cardiomyopathy
By Yudan Wen, Hui Yang and Zhangming Li.
Abstract
Objective
This study aimed to explore the ability of ultrasonic parameters combined with hemoglobin (HGB) levels to predict the subsequent development of left ventricular outflow tract obstruction (LVOTO) in patients with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM).
Methods
A retrospective study of 333 consecutive HCM patients receiving standardized clinical management from July 2020 to December 2025. Based on the presence or absence of LVOTO, the enrolled subjects were sorted and categorized to the two groups: LVOTO group (n = 107) and non-LVOTO group (n = 226). In this cohort of 333 patients with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, the analysis compared those with and without LVOTO. The baseline characteristics, laboratory test results, and echocardiographic measurements were contrasted. To screen out independent risk factors that could facilitate the onset of LVOTO among HCM patients, a multivariate logistic regression analysis was performed. In addition, researchers constructed ROC curves to assess the predictive capability of echocardiographic indices and HGB concentrations for identifying LVOTO.
