Electromagnetic Interference with Device-to-Device Communication in a Dual-Chamber Leadless Pacemaker During Temporary Mechanical Circulatory Support: Clinical and Experimental Evidence
By Sara Okuda, Takayuki Iida, Atsuhiko Yagishita and 5 others.
Abstract
The Impella system is widely used for mechanical circulatory support in patients with cardiogenic shock and has been reported to generate electromagnetic interference that may affect electrophysiological equipment, including electroanatomical mapping systems and intracardiac signal recordings. 1,2 Similar electromagnetic interactions between mechanical circulatory support devices and cardiac implantable electronic devices have also been described in patients supported with left ventricular assist devices.
