Abstract
Purpose
To describe real-world diagnostic, treatment, and follow-up patterns in diabetic macular edema in Colombia and to explore visual acuity changes for 24 months of follow-up.
Design
Retrospective observational cohort study using electronic medical records. Subjects: Two hundred adults diagnosed with DME between 2020 and 2022, contributing 367 eyes. Methods, intervention, or testing: Sociodemographic, systemic, imaging, treatment, adverse-event, and visual acuity data were extracted from routine records. Snellen acuity was converted to LogMAR and approximate Early Treatment Diabetic Retinopathy Study (ETDRS) letters. Outcomes were summarized descriptively and analyzed with an adjusted mixed-effects model.
