Abstract
ABSTRACT This research utilized 4‐aminoanipyrene as a reference in synthesizing several cobalt, nickel, copper, and cadmium complexes. The synthesis involved introducing 4‐aminoanipyrene into reactions with 4‐nitrobenzaldehyde to form a Schiff base, which then reacted with ferrous salts to produce the complexes. Then these complexes reacted with (dppe) to form phosphine complexes. The reactions were confirmed using FT—IR spectra and ( 1 H, 13 C, 31 P‐NMR) Spectrum, as the FT‐IR spectrum displayed an apparent decrease in the stretching of the azomethine and carbonyl bonds in the Schiff base, indicating the metal's attachment to these sites. It also showed the presence of new bands because (M—O) and (M—N) extending. The sensitivity of some complexes (A 3 , A 5 , A 6 , A 8 , A 9 ) was also tested against two types of bacteria, the first being the gram‐positive bacteria Staphylococcus aureus , as complex A 8 showed the highest effectiveness with an inhibition diameter It reached 34 mm and the second bacteria is Escherichia coli , as it was found that complex A 8 also has the highest effectiveness with an inhibition diameter of 28 mm, which is greater than the antibiotic used, which gives hope for its use as an antibiotic in the future due to its high effectiveness.
