Response to “From Pericytes to the Heart: A Microvascular Link in Systemic Sclerosis”
By Vinicio de Jesús Pérez.
Abstract
We thank Dr. Sbarra and colleagues for extending our review's framework to systemic sclerosis (SSc)-associated cardiopulmonary disease.Their proposal-that pericyte dysfunction could mechanistically link pulmonary vascular remodeling and myocardial injury in systemic autoimmune disease-is well grounded in what is now known about cardiac pericyte biology, and we would like to elaborate on several points of convergence and caution.
