How to Avoid Misdiagnosing Primary Spinal Epidural Abscess as Spinal Epidural Hematoma: A Case Report and Literature Review
By Sheng‐Wei Meng, Qian Liu and Yong‐Sheng Zhao.
Abstract
ABSTRACT Spinal epidural abscess (SEA) is an easily misdiagnosed disease. We report a case of primary SEA (PSEA) that was misdiagnosed as spinal epidural hematoma (SEH) and analyze the reasons. The misdiagnosis was confirmed intraoperatively. Comprehensive analysis is crucial for the diagnosis of PSEA and its differential diagnosis from SEH.
