Abstract / Summary
Abstract Anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction aims to restore both the anatomical footprint and the biomechanical stability of the knee joint. However, traditional femoral tunnel techniques, typically round in shape, often fail to accurately replicate the oval femoral insertion of the ACL. This discrepancy can compromise rotational stability and hinder graft integration. The oval femoral tunnel technique addresses this issue by creating a tunnel that more closely matches the anatomical dimensions of the ACL footprint. This article describes the oval femoral tunnel dilator and its accompanying instruments, detailing their application as a surgical technique for ACL reconstruction.
