Abstract / Summary
ObjectiveTo investigate the change trajectories of salt preference in patients with chronic heart failure and its influencing factors,so as to provide basis for stratified sodium restriction management.MethodsUsing the convenience sampling method,a total of 265 patients with chronic heart failure admitted to the cardiology department of Guangxi Hospital Division of the First Affiliated Hospital,Sun Yat⁃sen University from June 2024 to June 2025 were selected as the research subjects. The General Information Questionnaire, the salt taste preference score, the Dietary Sodium Restriction Questionnaire(DSRQ),and Self⁃Care of Heart Failure Index(SCHFI) were used to conduct. The latent class growth model(LCGM) was employed to identify trajectories of salt taste preference values in patients with chronic heart failure.Univariate analysis and multivariable Logistic regression were conducted to identify the influencing factors.ResultsThree change trajectories of salt preference were identified in patients with chronic heart failure:mild salt taste preference⁃persistent decline group(24.9%),moderate salt taste preference⁃slow decline group(49.1%),and severe salt taste preference⁃increase group(26.0%).Place of residence, compliance with sodium restriction, self⁃care level for heart failure, body mass index, monthly household income, heart function classification, and degree of edema were the factors influencing the change trajectories of salt preference in patients with chronic heart failure(P<0.05).ConclusionsThere was significant population heterogeneity in the salt preference trajectories of patients with chronic heart failure.Medical staff could carry out stratified and situational salt reduction interventions based on the three dynamic trajectories and influencing factors,so as to promote the decline of patients' salt preference and reduce the risk of high sodium intake.
