Myocardial Infarction Following Short-term Cessation of Dabigatran
By Immaneni Sathyamurthy, G. Venkat Sai, Sasikala Subramanian and 2 others.
Abstract
Dabigatran is indicated for stroke prevention for nonvalvular atrial fibrillation. Dabigatran is a double-edged sword as myocardial infarctions (MIs) were found increased and even cessation can result in MIs. The present report documents MI following stoppage, highlighting the importance of bridging with heparins, particularly for those with high CHADS2 scores.
